Update to Planning Application
There is an application for 9 dwellings to be built in the Lloyds Bank car park adjacent to the Corn Exchange, reference is P17/S3579/FUL . An acoustic survey is being carried out by both the applicant and the theatre and we are in discussions about the next steps. We’ll post any news updates here.

New Campaign to Modernise the Theatre
We raised £500,000 to replace our glass roof and that is finished. BUT costs have risen and we need another £150,000 to modernise the theatre. So fundraising must continue. Sound in the Cinema
The standard level for film sound in an Auditorium is 7.0 on the calibrated Dolby™ Volume level control. However, many cinemas including this one, have found that this setting can allow excessive sound levels on some film soundtracks. However, as part of the experience, the sound in a cinema will always be louder than that
