British film, part of the season of International Films selected and supported by the BFI.
Adapted by playwright Richard Cameron from his play of the same name and accompanied by a fantastic original score by Richard Hawley, this film, set in a post-industrial northern community, is directed by actor/director Bill Buckhurst.
Summer 1994 in a quiet mining village outside Doncaster. A rumour stirs about a legendary giant carp in the nearby ponds. Young Trevor leads his friends and neighbours on a fishing expedition, seeking a moment of harmony in a world of broken families and nascent political fever.
