Oregon, 1933. With America in the grip of the Great Depression, widowed war veteran Samuel Murphy is separated from his young daughter and sent to a remote prison labour camp. His chance to return to her comes with a dangerous proposition: lead a group of convicts carrying a fortune in gold across the wilderness and earn an early release. But their precious cargo soon attracts danger, while greed and suspicion threaten the group from within. Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe lead Padraic McKinley’s rugged, old-school adventure thriller, a tale of survival, betrayal and desperate men discovering just how heavy the price of freedom can be.
