Before the advent of the digital projector, all films shown at the Corn Exchange were on 35mm film. This one-day free 35mm film festival is a last chance to see films in this format as we give our old projector its final run.
Showing as part of our 35mm Film Festival day, the classic 1957 musical, Jailhouse Rock. Elvis Presley’s first film for MGM shocked many on its release – with its jailbait anti-hero and use of the word Hell as an expletive – but the dance sequence is now considered part of movie history and Presley’s finest moment on film.
