The Playboy of the Western World, directed by Caitríona McLaughlin, is a darkly comic tale of identity, myth-making and desire. When a mysterious stranger arrives in a rural pub claiming he has killed his father, he becomes an unlikely local hero, captivating Pegeen Flaherty (Coughlan) and the surrounding community. Also featuring performances from Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) and Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls), this filmed stage production captures Synge’s wit and the fragile line between truth and storytelling.
