Two Plays £15 / One Play £10
In July 2014 Wallingford will see a theatrical event like no other, when the Sinodun Players invite you to visit House & Garden by Alan Ayckbourn.
It’s a big day for Teddy Platt. He’s hosting a luncheon party and a garden fete, he’s breaking up with his mistress and even being offered a formidable position in politics. Alongside this, he’s dealing with flying dinner plates and collapsing tents, and falling for someone whose language he can’t speak or understand. Faced with a mute wife, a distressed daughter, a polygamous gardener, a knife-wielding cleaner, a drunken French actress and a bemused transit-driving fete organiser, he’s just trying to make sense of it all.
A farcical comedy with real heart and emotion, House & Garden is the story of all this and much more; though to be precise we should say the stories of all this, as they are two individual plays, performed simultaneously to two separate audiences by the same actors, who move between the two stages and provide a unique perspective on the same events.
The plays will be performed at the Corn Exchange in Wallingford at 7.45 pm from Wednesday 9th July to Saturday 12th July and then from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th July. Alan Ayckbourn’s infamous and revered piece is rarely produced in its entirety and is certainly not to be missed.
Tickets will be on sale in May, at a cost of £15 for both plays. The Box Office is open on Friday and Saturday mornings between 10am and 2pm and in the evenings from 7pm to 8pm.
