Roman Holiday

Friday, March 17th, 2023

Few romcoms can hold a candle to this unique tale of an unhappy royal bowled over by a romantic, and beautiful American. Audrey Hepburn, (the princess) eats the rest of the cast for breakfast (Gregory Peck, not a prince, but charming nontheless) and won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

The film also won the award for best screenplay, written by John Dighton and Dalton Trumbo (the latter used a front man as he was blacklisted by McCarthy at the time). Recommended by the US Library of Congress as “culturally, aesthetically significant”, this is something you don’t always get on a wet Wednesday in Wallingford.
